Every museum shingle that needs to be replaced, every hundred-year-old window pane that breaks, every harpoon that needs to be cleaned and catalogued‹all these responsibilities are shouldered by the volunteers of the East Hampton Historical Society, and we truly cannot do it alone.

The East Hampton Historical Society is a nonprofit organization that protects, preserves, and presents our local history and maintains some of our most precious treasures:
We are also stewards of a rare and rich collection of artifacts and antiques from East Hampton's storied past, from the Reverend Buell's wig to Mr. Dominy's grandfather clocks.
In 2006, among other daunting and expensive tasks, we will be replacing the rotting roof on Clinton Academy, and moving forward with crucial modernizations of the fishing-life displays at the Marine Museum and we are dangerously short of funds and community support!
Whether you're a year-round resident, second-home owner, or merely a weekend visitor, you are an important member of our community and you should be a member of the East Hampton Historical Society.

But: What exactly is the East Hampton Historical Society, again?
You've driven past our museums so many times. Maybe when you were a kid in school you played old-days at one of the desks in the Town House, or one July weekend day-dreamed over the whale boat at the Marine Museum.
But did you know the Society also puts on living-history fairs, free community events, walking tours, lectures on local lore, and hands-on workshops?
You're probably surprised to learn that unlike some other, more wealthy Hamptons institutions we operate pretty much hand-to-mouth. And we need you, now.
Don't let our town end up like this!
