250 Years of Images and Objects at Clinton Academy Museum July 8 - October 7, 2007
Gardiner's Island, the first English settlement in New York State, was founded by Lion Gardiner (1599-1663), established as a manor in 1686, and is still owned by a descendant.
The Gardiner family has played a crucial role in the history of East Hampton, and this exhibition explores the island and its legends as well as the generations of Gardiners and their lives. Using maps, documents, and decorative arts, the story of this fabled island is brought to life.
