~ Wish List ~
A thorough assessment of the condition of all our museum buildings, performed in January 2006, revealed serious threats to the integrity of these historic buildings. The repairs are urgent and we are in desperate need of funds.
This is our wish list - can you help?
MULFORD FARM COMPLEX |
| Grounds: |
$3,500 |
- Remove woodpile from over the well
- Reconstruct a copy of the 19th century wooden Mulford well platform and pump that was once there (from an early photograph).
- Repair the smoke house by reconstructing the left door jam
(so the door can be closed during off-season)
- Construct a stone or brick foundation under the building
- Do sill repair as required.
|
|
| Mulford Barn: |
$7,000 |
- The lean-to shed needs to be stabilized with a foundation and must be roofed with wooden shingles. We have some shingles on site.
- A shutter or hinges window would be prudent on the bathrooms during the off- season-to keep the weather out
|
|
| Shed: |
$6,000 |
- A new roof is needed to make this building well again. From a practical standpoint this small barn could easily be converted into a classroom space by removing the facade to open up the interior and creating a simple porch-like effect. An area could be constructed to also house the two rare farm sleds.
|
|
| Large Object Storage Facility: |
$4,200 |
- Repair the plywood cornice facing on east side
- Add a commercial dehumidifier to counteract the mold problem caused by excessive moisture.
|
|
| Mulford House: |
$7,600 |
- Because of excessive water leakage due to impractical blind chimney flashing, traditional exposed flashing must be installed which may mean the rebuilding of the exposed chimney.
- The first floor rooms should have baseboard electrical outlets installed for the use of simple portable heating units. This would facilitate school programs during the colder months of the school year.
|
|
TOWN HOUSE: |
| General Repairs |
$3,500 |
- The trim needs to be painted and the window sash needs some repair and puttying.
- There appears to be water damage around the interior wall where the chimney is attached - could it be a flashing problem?
|
|
CLINTON ACADEMY: |
| General Repairs |
$85,500 |
- A new roof is needed for both the main structure and the porch. The building is in need of painting.
- The belfry needs to be primed
- There is some rot on trim boards and other detailing that must be repaired or replaced before the onset of painting
- Add electrical outlets on the main floor gallery to facilitate the addition of computer elements for exhibitions and lectures
|
|
A total of $117,300 is needed for URGENT repairs.
In addition to these major repairs and upgrades to help us stabilize these buildings, operating expenses for our 5 museums, programs and events often require small resources that are not within our budget.
Please consider helping us with a donation. Our wish list includes:
